*We like to put a roast in the slow cooker early morning, add water to cover along with a packet of onion soup mix (2 if large roast) plus a splash of vinegar and cook covered until supper time. We then save (freeze) the broth for other recipes such as French Onion Soup or Beef with Vegetables Stew.

Option 1. Love roast beef from the deli?? A low & slow trip up to 145-155° F will turn a plain old rump roast into some of the best deli cuts to ever find their way between two slices of bread. It doesn’t require any seasoning, but a day or two in a brine won’t hurt a thing.

Option 2. Leave it in the oven until it reaches an internal temperature of around 200° F, then let it rest for an hour or two. Shred with a pair of forks for delicious shredded beef, or slice and serve with mashed potatoes for a meal that will take you down memory lane.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    How do you prepare your steaks?

    We prepare our steaks by bringing the steaks to room temperature and adding a dry rub within 5 minutes of grilling on a 450F hot grill. 5 minutes per side with a 10-minute resting period.

    How much freezer space do I need?

    For a whole beef, it is recommended to have 16 cubic feet. A quarter would be 5-7 cubic feet.

    Why are there Deposit amounts and then it says there will be another Deposit due before you ship?

    The first deposit is a down payment to hold your meat. Once we have a final weight, we will send an invoice for the final amount that needs to be paid before the meat can be picked up. Spring and Fall are when we have packages available.

    What do your cows eat?

    Gavitt Family Grassfed Beef are happy, healthy cattle that grow up the way nature intended. They flourish on a simple diet of mom’s rich milk, mineral supplements like trace mineral salt, and all the grass they can eat.
